Technologies need to develop Application Software

To Develop application software we need two types of technologies

a. front end / GUI / Windows Technologies

 ( i ) developer 2000 - Oracle corp
 ( ii ) Visual Basic    -  Microsoft
 ( iii ) VB .net           - Microsoft
  ( iv ) Awt / Applets / Swings - Sun Microsys

When we Develop any fronted application ( i ) , ( ii ) & ( iii ) Operating technologies , those application runs on Microsoft providing Operating Only. But not on non Microsoft Operating system. These types of applications are known as platform dependent .

    When we develop any GUI application / front end applications runs on every Operating system  so that these applications are called platform independent.

As on today most of the organizations prefers to develop platform independent applications.

b. Back end Technologies ( Data base Products )

   ( i ) dBase , dBase III plus , foxpro ( Out dated )

   ( ii ) Oracle log - Oracle corp

Note :- In order to store the data permanently , we have two approaches in information technology  They are

     - Through files concept
     - Through Data base concepts

Industries are not recommended to store the data permanently in the form of most popular database products . And more over the database provides effective security to the data in the form of user names and passwords.
